Pottery Made by S. Graham

About me

The story of my transformation into a potter is nothing short of enchanting, and one I will reveal in the near future. Having devoted almost two years to wheel throwing and hand-building techniques, I have found an unwavering passion for pottery. As soon as my hands touched the cool, damp clay, I entered a realm of unbridled creativity. Presently, I create art that serves both functional and sculptural pieces.

    The Art of Pottery

The art of pottery making is magic

Pottery, to me, is more than just a bowl or cup. It is an artisanal expression, with each piece handcrafted during moments of serenity, clarity, and connection with the natural clay. While firing is a crucial step, the true magic happens when I carefully combine glazes, allowing the kiln to work its wonders and produce awe-inspiring results that are, in themselves, works of art. This, for me, is the heart of pottery.

    Anything can be art

This pottery dish, showcases both skilled craftsmanship and artistic glaze technique. The symmetrical form and even walls reflect careful control during wheel throwing, while the glaze pattern—a striking crystalline or bloom-like effect in shades of blue and green—adds a unique, organic texture reminiscent of natural formations like lichen or turtle shell patterns. The dark green rim provides a strong frame that draws the eye inward, highlighting the intricate detail of the glaze inside.
